Norm Macdonald is the new Colonel Sanders in KFC commercials

But it seems the handoff wasn’t an amicable one: Macdonald’s new incarnation of the Colonel claims that Hammond was an imposter and that he is the only true poultry-pushing spokesman. The SNL alum appeared in new spots and even a music video to bring a amusing, modern-day twist to the old school icon.

KFC is rolling out “Saturday Night Live” veteran Norm Macdonald as its new white-suited spokesman in a series of TV ads. Ulf Johansson of Smith & Jones Films directed the latest ads.

According to Fox News, the campaign is created by ad agency Wiedan+Kennedy in Portland, and is meant to be a comedic spin on Colonel Harland David Sanders, founder of the restaurants.

Lining up a new colonel indicates that Yum Brands is committed, for now, to incorporating Sanders into its ongoing marketing campaigns.

“Howdy, folks. It’s me, the REAL Colonel Sanders”.

“I was blown away when I learned that Colonel Sanders didn’t even start KFC until he was 65”.

KFC CEO Greg Creed recently said he was thrilled that one in five people hated the Hammond-led ads.

“I am actually quite happy that 20% hate it, because now they at least have an opinion”, Creed said. As the Colonel, MacDonald will headline KFC’s marketing and advertisements with just as much majesty as you would expect.

The four spots also introduce a new family-sized version of KFC’s $US5 Fill Up meal: The $US20 Family Fill Up, which contains eight pieces of chicken, two large orders of mashed potatoes and gravy, one large coleslaw, and four biscuits.
