Giants drop Patriots 17-9 in preseason finale

The New England Patriots superstar quarterback Tom Brady will be missing the first four games of the upcoming 2016-17 National Football League regular season and he is not allowed to be with his teammates and the team staffs in any occasions.

The suspension begins Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. They didn’t have to carry him, though doing so would have said, once again, that they supported Brady. Playing against the Giants second team offense was probably a factor, but Mingo certainly made his presence known on the field.

Brady’s receivers didn’t show the usual Patriots poise, as Dobson continued to be a talented pass-catcher prone to mental lapses and newcomer Martellus Bennett was stripped after coming down with a reception in the first quarter.

Brady played the first half Thursday, while Beckham did not take the field as the Giants rested many starters in advance of their September 11 regular-season opener against the Cowboys in Arlington, Texas. “That’s what the preseason is for and what training camp is for, so it was good to get out there”. He completed 16-of-26 passes for 166 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. While the opening night trip to Arizona is clearly a pretty big challenge for any team, never mind one with a quarterback making his first career start, the first month of games offers the Patriots plenty of opportunities for a good start to 2016.

“I was happy I was able to play as much as I did”, Brady said. “I always take it as it comes and do the best that I could do”.

Logan Thomas connected with Roger Lewis late in the fourth quarter to ice the game for the Giants.

“Any time you get a chance to talk to somebody like that, he’s made the playoffs for a very long time”, Beckham said.

Brady is not allowed at team facilities during the suspension, nor is he allowed to have contact with coaches or teammates. However, the New England Patriots are missing that tall receiver that plays on the end of the field that can be a deep route receiver that averages more than 15 yards per catch.

Patriots: Garoppolo, Rob Ninkovich, Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola, Jabaal Sheard, Jonathan Cooper. He finished the night 16-of-29 for 210 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Giants: King, who was on the practice squad past year, should have a roster spot locked up after catching four passes for 80 yards and his third TD of the preseason.

“What I can do is go out there and try to do my job to the best of my ability and put myself in a situation so that whenever Jimmy (Garoppolo) calls your number, you’re there”, Edelman said at his locker Sunday. But he did get some hits he was sacked a couple of times. “Just kind of messing with him, I asked him if my jersey got lost in the mail; or what was going on with it”.
