Wisconsin got 3-for-3 day from field goal kicker Rafael Gaglianone, including a 48-yarder that gave the Badgers a 6-0 lead going into the half.

Under the new leadership of former Wisconsin defensive coordinator, Dave Aranda, the LSU defense will be something to watch for as Houston and offense take the field on Saturday. They lost Wisconsin, 16-14, with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter. Wisconsin has been known as a run-heavy program for as long as anyone can remember, producing backs in recent years such as Montee Ball, Melvin Gordon and soon-to-be Corey Clement. UW also outgained LSU in yardage 339-257. It will be close for a while, but chants of “S-E-C!” will pour over the historic stadium as LSU pulls away in the second half. They will make their presence felt at Lambeau as Leonard Fournette starts his Heisman campaign with a big game against a Wisconsin defense missing its leading tackler T.J. Edwards.

Moments later, Badger linebacker Vince Biegel came charging through the middle of the line, trying to sack LSU quarterback Brandon Harris. But after Saturday’s win, Wisconsin’s expectations now take a major jump.

No. 2 Clemson 19, Auburn 13: In Auburn, Alabama, Deshaun Watson passed for 248 yards, including 174 to Mike Williams in his return from an injury, and Clemson escaped with a victory over Auburn. Looking to make a play on third down, Houston’s first look was to Fumagalli who was covered. “They kept pressure on the quarterback, and he was making some errant throws”. The win was secured when Mississippi State junior Westin Graves missed a 28-yard field-goal attempt by hitting the left upright with six seconds remaining.

Wisconsin had more rushing yards, more passing yards, the same number turnovers, and of course, more points. But a false start penalty of five yards against right guard William Clapp followed. In the end it just wasn’t enough to overcome an upset-minded Badgers team. Rosowski’s 51-yard punt allowed LSU to begin its drive on its 36. Wisconsin’s Chikwe Obasih recovered at the LSU 36. Not after running half as many plays (21) as a similarly constructed Wisconsin offense (42) in the first half.

Key Play: Feeling like it needed to generate some momentum, LSU went for it on fourth-and-1 from its 46 by handing the ball to its big back in Leonard Fournette.

Wisconsin’s Gaglianone kicked a 47-yard field goal.

Purdue 45, Eastern Kentucky 24: Leroy Clark and Gelen Robinson’s first-quarter interceptions helped Purdue build an early 21-0 lead, and the Boilermakers (1-0) outlasted the Football Championship Subdivision opponent at West Lafayette, Ind.

The Tigers offense made it easy for Wisconsin’s defense. The Badgers leave the friendly confines of Madison to head two hours north for a date on the not-so-frozen tundra with No. 5 LSU. The Badgers punched the Tigers square in the mouth from the opening kickoff. The wide receivers for LSU are fantastic. The Tigers took the 14-13 lead three plays later. He became the fourth LSU player to rush for at least 3,000 yards. The Badgers gained 180 yards and the Tigers 64.

UW’s 13-0 lead vanished in a span of nine plays and 67 seconds. The loss dealt an early blow to the fifth-ranked Tigers’ national title hopes.

Harris’ inability to move the ball through the air forced the Tigers to lean on Fournette and the running game.

LSU: The Tigers will likely nosedive out of the Top 10 when the next poll comes out Tuesday.
