Not sure what to get?

In a recent announcement, Razer unveiled its all-new line of gaming keyboards called “Ornata” keyboards, which boast the inclusion of the company’s new “Mecha-Membrane” technology. As you will have read in the intro, these keyboards feature hybrid membrane and mechanical keyswitches. The base of a Mecha-Membrane keyboard, Razer has explained, is based on a sheet of rubber domes; on top of this a physical plunger and spring arrangement offers crisp tactile feedback similar to that of a mechanical keyboard, albeit one with a layer of rubber underneath the keycap to cushion the landing. When a key is pressed, the membrane switch provides a bit more bounce and cushion (than a full mechanical switch), while the mechanical actuator on the right side provides tactility and an audible click. The CEO points out that the new keyboard is a great example of how feedback can push innovations. “The Razer Ornata is a great example of how our engineers can use feedback to innovate something truly wonderful for gamers – in this case, a solution that melds two seemingly disparate keyboard technologies for a phenomenal experience”.

“It sounds like I’m typing like a madman!”

The Razer Ornata comes with a magnetically attached wrist rest, 10-key roll over, a dedicated gaming mode, and lighting controlled by the Razer Synapse software. For the “Ornata Chroma” that has over 16.8 million colors, customers will need to shell out $99.99. The Razer Ornata will carry an MSRP of $79.99 United States dollars and the Razer Ornata Chroma will be priced at $99.99 USD. However, both devices are already available for preorder on Razer’s official site. Both keyboards are available immediate at the company’s razerzone.com store, with worldwide availablity slated for October.
