The spokesman added that any move to return to annual shadow cabinet elections should be “part of the wider debate about party democratisation and reform”.
Shadow cabinet elections were abolished by Ed Miliband in 2011, in order to give the leader a free hand in selecting his top team.

Now the leader appoints the shadow cabinet, but some Labour MPs want to revert to a system under which they would elect its members.

Considering how unpopular Mr Corbyn is with the PLP, it is likely they will vote to reverse the decision.
