Everton target Lamine Kone might sign new long-term deal at Sunderland – Moyes
Kone reportedly rejected a new deal from Sunderland in an effort to force a move, but Black Cats boss Moyes was unwilling to sell unless he could find an adequate replacement.

Sunderland manager David Moyes has reiterated that he expects Lamine Kone to sign a new contract at the Stadium of Light.
Moyes had been adamant that Kone would not be leaving the club this summer and the manager deserves credit for his strong stance.
Moyes was quoted as saying by beIN Sports: “It’s been a hard period for us all”.
“I understand Lamine’s position, but I also understand that we as a club had to set our position”. Hopefully, there might be some news.
“We won’t change on that at all”.
Sunderland confirmed they would be offering him a new deal once the window had closed but chose to offer Kone a new contract earlier, ahead of the recent Middlesbrough game.
Now Moyes is looking to make good on a promise Allardyce made regarding a new contract for Kone, who impressed with Sunderland last season as they avoided relegation from the Premier League.
“I can give something to the team, maybe different, and I hope that is what I will do”.
Moyes and Anichebe face their former side Everton after the global break on September 12.
The 21-year-old has arrived on a season-long loan from Manchester City and will add competition to David Moyes’ options in central defence.
Januzaj joined Sunderland on loan from Manchester United, with Moyes using his second domestic loan on deadline day to secure Denayer.

Denayer brings Champions League experience gained over the last two seasons, firstly with Celtic FC in the 2014-15 season and then during last year’s campaign with Galatasaray, where he won the Turkish Cup.
