James Gunn took to Facebook to explain that while he’s grateful for the overwhelming interest in Guardians 2, people essentially harassing him over the trailer is getting old.
Of all the lines in Guardians of the Galaxy the simple “I am Groot” was undeniably the most memorable, closely followed by “I am Groot” and “I am Groot”.
Regarding Diesel’s character Groot, Gunn also revealed that there is a special version of the script for the actor. “This is the special Groot version of the script that only Vin Diesel and I have, where every Groot line is printed in English instead of Groot, so Vin will know what the various “I am Groot’s” mean. I love putting this thing together”. After all, even though all his dialogue is replaced by “I am Groot”, he doesn’t speak very often. Of course, that may change in the sequel, though this time Diesel is voicing a pint-sized version of Groot. However, it turns out that Groot – Vin Diesel’s giant tree-man who’s repeatedly rattling off his own name in the style of a wooden Hodor – is more complicated than you might think. With just a single line of dialogue, he has to convey feelings and what would likely be a much more complex sentence.
As seen in Vin Diesel’s Facebook page, Gunn and Diesel spoke that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” once showed a footage during the previously held Comic-Con 2016, which is what the actor saw and more.
Diesel goes on to praise fellow cast members Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Kurt Russell and Michael Rooker, with some additional praise from Gunn.

There’s a lot still under wraps about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as with any Marvel project, but we’re closer at this point to the sequel’s 2017 release than the original’s in 2014 (when did that happen?), and details are finally starting to trickle out.
