Tyler Heochlin Reveals How He Nabbed ‘Superman’ Role

Well, we’ve got the first official photo below from the CW series (via Entertainment Weekly), and we do have to say that this imagine definitely feels like it is a little bit more in line with the Superman we expect. “It was very flattering, and I wish every job came about that way”.

Season two of Supergirl is significant for a number of reasons, though chief among them has to be the fact that the Man of Steel is finally about to enter Kara Danvers’ world. International Television Distribution, SUPERGIRL is executive produced by Greg Berlanti (“Arrow”, “The Flash”), Ali Adler (“The New Normal”), Andrew Kreisberg (“The Flash”, “Arrow”) and Sarah Schechter (“Blindspot”, “The Mysteries of Laura”). So if Berlanti and Kreisberg are truly this optimistic about Hoechlin, fans should probably give them the benefit of the doubt – they know what they’re talking about. Supergirl is based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and appearing in DC Comics, by special arrangement with the Jerry Siegel Family. After landing the coveted role, he made sure to avoid viewing any Superman films.”I didn’t want to have any temptation to imitate”, he added.

With the way the two producers felt about Tyler Hoechlin, there was never really a question regarding whether or not he was right for the role once they made a decision to introduce Superman into the series. Though it may have had something to do with the way in which they offered it to him.

The 28-year old actor who plays Kara’s cousin on “Supergirl” season 2 that first and foremost, the show as a whole wanted to “honor the tradition that is the character without really emulating anything that somebody else has done before”. The second season of the show starts Monday, October 10th and EW debuted a new shot from the two-part opener featuring Hoechlin.
