Trump immigration pivot is all spin

Seventy-eight percent said t. The official USA government estimate has 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US, although Trump argued that the number could range from 3 million to 30 million.

CLINTON: She promises to propose immigration legislation in her first 100 days that would include a route to citizenship.

Trump’s call to pass Kate’s Law, which ensures strong sentences for criminal aliens convicted of illegally re-entering the USA, is also featured in the clip. They would have to return to their home countries and apply for legal entry should they wish to return.

Donald Trump is apparently thinking outside the box on how to pay for that border wall, and part of the money may come from seized cartel assets. Trump has also called for an end to “birthright citizenship”, now granted to anyone born in the United States.

Of the three morning shows on Thursday, it was CBS that defaulted to the automatic assumption that Donald Trump was lying about a discussion with Mexico’s President. There are already some 650 miles of fencing along the border, including roughly 15-foot tall steel fencing in many urban areas.

The Trump campaign couldn’t be reached to respond to Menendez’s remarks.

“Mexico will pay for the wall”. He would also add 5,000 border patrol agents and expand the number of border patrol stations. “Well, it’s happening right now”, she says. “The median income hasn’t gone up in 15 years and yet we have thousands and thousands of people coming across the border”.

He touted a “zero tolerance” policy for “criminal aliens” and promised that on Day 1 of his administration he will begin rounding up for deportation the supposed 2 million of them that he said are now living in the country. While Mr. Trump’s plans for a locked-down deportation nation are largely a nativist fantasy, immigrant communities in Arizona have lived with the reality of what the Trump vision leads to: the brutal racial profiling and policing abuses of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a staunch Trump ally, who echoes and inspires Mr. Trump’s vicious talk about immigrants as criminals.

“Our enforcement priorities will base on removing gang members, criminals, visa overstays, security threats, public charges relaying on public welfare or forcing a millions illegal arrivals overstays who have come here under this current corrupt administration”. The numbers could exceed 5 million. It’s always 11 million.

GARRETT: In Phoenix, Donald Trump promised mass deportations, but did not explain how he would do it.

CLINTON: She would continue Obama’s policy of deporting violent criminals and others who break the law after entering the United States. “Is she undocumented?” she says. Trump said the United States is a “big bully that keeps getting beat up” and vowed “There will be no amnesty” for any undocumented immigrant in the country today. “And that’s what” Trump “should be saying, not going back and saying one thing in his speech and then using the insane Gang of Eight”, the senators who supported an immigration bill in 2013 “nonsense when he’s talking to” Fox News host Sean “Hannity”. Trump aides later grudgingly admitted differences of opinion, something, DeMarco, Trump simply did not want to recognize in front of the Mexican president.

“It’s just puzzling”, said Lanhee Chen, who has served as a policy adviser to several Republican presidential candidates.

All this deportation would be conducted by an expanded roster of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and “a new special deportation task force focused on identifying and quickly removing the most unsafe criminal illegal immigrants in America”. (A second executive action remains tangled up in court.) Trump, reiterating earlier pledges, said he would throw both executive action programs out the window. Municipalities like San Francisco, for example, have passed ordinances preventing city officials from even asking about immigration status unless required by law or court order.

And Hillary Clinton? Whatever her attributes, she is uncharismatic, unexciting, greedy, wonkish, scripted and devious, an individual you can neither fully believe nor fully trust. She has said that such systems allow immigrants to freely report crimes and communicate with local policy without fear of deportation. On Hillary, “Maybe they’ll be able to deport HER!”
