“At this point, it does appear that most of the price shocks are behind us, though if there are any curveballs that hit the market, all bets are off”. Those locations were 1000 W. Stan Schlueter Loop, 1104 W. Rancier Ave., 1801 S. W.S. Young Drive and 4807 M.L. King Jr.

Gas prices have started a slow climb up, with the average price in Birmingham going up 0.4 cents a gallon in the past week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.858 per gallon, which is 5.8 cents less than last week. The average price was $2.17 a gallon as of Sunday.

Prolonged slumping oil prices have now led some who follow energy prices to wonder if gas prices could soon drop below $2 per gallon.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 80 cents, from a low of $2.25 to a high of $3.05.

That is 19 cents below the national average and 99 cents below the in-state price a year ago. The refinery outage is expected to last several weeks, but supplies are being brought in from other states and prices are expected to stabilize in the Midwest.

The Associated Press reported Friday the U.S. crude contract fell as low as $41.35 a barrel, which is the weakest level since early 2009, when the global economy got caught in a massive financial crisis and recession.
