Olive Garden officials say through this tradition, they’ve been able to serve more than 10,000 meals to first responders since 2002.

“We’re very appreciative of them to take the time out to show their appreciation for our fire department and bring us such good food for lunch, our guys are always busy and to have someone to take time out for us makes us just feel so appreciative”.

This is the fifteenth year of the Labor Day lunch deliveries. General Manager Chris Lilly says that the restaurant appreciates emergency services.

The Dodge Street Olive Garden location in Omaha delivered various foods to EMS workers at Station 41 around Noon Monday.

The meal included spaghetti and meatballs, salad and bread served with ice tea.

Molfetta said she was one of the last to eat because her lunch break was delayed because she was on a medic run. It helps us out.

Lt. Jamie Ruhl called the prepared lunch “a nice break” for the firefighters, especially on a holiday. “The Olive Garden saying is “when you’re here, you’re family” but everybody’s family”, Robinson said about why they do it. Numerous employees look forward to this day every year.
