The Indian government has faced wide-spread criticism for using pellet guns as a non-lethal weapon to disperse protests.

Singh said that the central government was ready to talk to anybody and everybody who was interested in normalcy and peace in the valley.

Commenting on the refusal of Hurriyat leaders to participate in the discussions, Singh said that they were “not on the path of Kashmiriyat”.

He said that not only our doors, but our window ventilation is also open for anyone who wants to talk to us for bringing in normalcy and peace in the valley within the ambit of “jamhooriyat”, “Kashmiriyat” and “insaniyat”.

He said the country’s largest panchayat was Parliament and this panchayat was extremely serious about the situation in Kashmir. “Certainly we do not have the ability to communicate our view in less than a minute”, Chrungoo said, adding that “it means that governments at the Centre and in the state do not want anything worth while to be communicated to the delegation”.

Singh informed that the delegation will meet in Delhi and discuss the issues that came up during meetings with various delegations during its visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Different stakeholders who met the all-party delegation had made the point that there was no follow-up action by the Centre after visits of such delegations in the past.

“I want to clarify that some members of the delegation had gone to meet Hurriyat leaders yesterday in their individual capacity”, he told reporters before leaving Srinagar.

The delegation earlier met the Chief Minister during which a detailed presentation was given by the state government highlighting various issues related to the current scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. “We had not said yes or no to the initiative”. I had then said I was instituting a committee to decide on an alternative in two months. Are we not nationalists? “Also, the all-party delegation seemed very unprepared and uniformed about the ground realities in the state so it was bound to be snubbed”. I appeal to the friends of media that the situation in Kashmir is a cause of concern.

“Do not take it outside the country”, he said.

The all-party delegation will visit Jammu later in the day.
