“Terrorist is a terrorist”. Those, who sponsor and support terrorism, must be isolated and sanctioned and not rewarded.
“Financial transparency and effective implementation of the standards on transparency by all, in particular with regard to the beneficial ownership of legal persons and legal arrangements, is vital to protect the integrity of the global financial system, and to prevent misuse of these entities and arrangements for corruption, tax evasion, terrorist financing and money laundering”.
Mr Modi sought the UK Prime Minister’s suggestions on further strengthening the partnership particularly trade and investment ties.
The two leaders discussed further enhancing of the defence partnership and Modi invited United Kingdom firms to India.
Although the G20 Summit gave Modi and Xi the chance to iron out recent difficulties, Modi’s two-day stay in Hangzhou has also provided India with the opportunity to bolster several other key relationships. In this context, the two leaders discussed counter terrorism cooperation. Mr Modi also held bilateral talks with French president Francois Hollande where India raised the scorpene submarine leak issue.
BRIC began as a formal grouping, after the meeting of the Leaders of Russia, India and China in St Petersburg on the margins of G8 Outreach Summit in 2006.
Without directly naming Pakistan, Modi told Turnbull, “Our (India’s) neighbourhood, in particular, was suffering from destabilisation effects of terrorism”.
The Prime Minister also referred to passage of GST bill, which he said would further boost trade and investment ties with UK, Swarup said.
She also underlined the importance Britain attaches to the Indian diaspora.
The Indian leader said he would personally take him to the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, for whom Macri has had high regards.
Modi thanked Macri for Argentina’s strong support for India’s membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). May accepted the invitation and said she would like to make as early a visit to India as possible.
