Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi replaces Sucha Singh Chhotepur as AAP’s Punjab convenor
On Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), appointed Gupreet Singh Ghuggi as Punjab convenor, reported PTI. Meanwhile, Chhotepur, in a conference at Chandigarh, said, “I am saddened that the party, instead of defending me has levelled allegations against me”.

Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Punjab next week. He said that AAP is bent on vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of Punjab just to garner votes by exporting people with criminal background hailing from Delhi, UP and Bihar.
“This is revealed from the fact that no receipt was issued for crores collected from ticket seekers who were told the money was for the party”.
After comedian-turned-parliamentarian Bhagwant Mann, who is the party’s campaign committee chairman for the 2017 Punjab Assembly polls, Ghuggi will be the second satirist to bag a top post in AAP which has been hit by controversies of late.
The Irrigation Minister, Punjab, and senior leader of SAD S. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today reacted strongly to the everyday’s vicious activities of the leaders of AAP aimed at fomenting trouble in the state.
Party sources said Mr. Ghuggi was chosen as he was “a young and popular face” in Punjab and would bolster the party’s prospects in the Assembly polls.
But the probe has been a non-starter as Chhotepur has refused to appear before the two-member inquiry panel as one of the members is a signatory on the letter seeking his ouster that was sent to national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Ghuggi, 44, who had worked in Hindi movies like “Namastey London“, “Race“, however, said he had neither been a politician nor was interested in it. With the sacked leader drawing support from many in the party’s Punjab unit, the AAP made it clear that violating party discipline would invite “strict action”. The party’s six parliamentary zonal coordinators in Punjab have recently passed a resolution in his support.
