Tiger Woods fails to make cut at PGA Championship

Fresh off of missing the cut over the weekend at the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods will be participating at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Thursday.

“I think it’s more just building”, Woods said after he missed the cut at the PGA Championship, per Harig.

“I’m pleased at the way I’m starting to hit the golf ball”. “Even I if I dumped the ball center of the green or I had some makeable putts straight up the gut, they still were off. They were either getting chewed up by the green or I was blowing them through”.

Jordan Spieth is one shot back at six-under and still in contention to claim his third major this year, a feat that would see him join Tiger Woods and Ben Hogan as the only men to do so.

And if he does, he won’t qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which begin with The Barclays at Plainfield Country Club on August 27. “I’ll go into tomorrow strictly for the history piece of trying to get my name on a different major”.

Still working through the latest swing change of his career after recovering from back surgery, Woods has endured a dismal 2015 campaign featuring three missed cuts, a withdrawal and just two top-25 finishes in nine starts.

After missing a five-foot par putt on his third hole of this tournament, Woods walked down the fourth fairway muttering, “How f– bad am I putting?” loud enough for reporters to hear. I just haven’t come to grips with this whole non-calendar season yet, and this whole wraparound schedule thing, so for me I still consider it a year.

Woods still can draw huge appearance fees for playing overseas, where fans don’t seem to care that he’s essentially become a ceremonial golfer before his 40th birthday.

There’s been so much speculation about Woods maybe hanging it up or semi-retiring as he gets older and prioritizes his kids and non-golf endeavors. Word has missed the cut in his last three Major appearances as he continues the most brutal stretch of his career. There’s plenty of golf to be played globally. I’m hitting shots and able to hit shots that I haven’t been able to hit in years.

“The confidence is growing quickly, ” said Woods, indicating he’s overcoming injury troubles and merely needs to build consistency. “And as I said, on a global level”. And his Hero World Challenge is moving this year to The Bahamas.

“That’s the fun part”, he said. “Only way you can do that is by playing, and as I said, I have a lot of golf to be played around the world”. “It was one of the worst putting rounds I’ve had in a long time”.
