Countries under the aegis of the organisation for economic cooperation and development or OECD have been working towards adopting automatic exchange of information standards as well as moving towards base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) norms to curb black money and check tax evasion.

The Prime Minister invited British firms to “Make in India” as both leaders also looked forward to an early visit by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to the United Kingdom, he said.

The meeting with Turkish President Recip Tayyip Erdogan, scheduled at the last minute, also allowed India to push for the country’s support for its entry to the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group (NSG). Turkey too raised its concern over the presence of supporters of dissident cleric Fethullah Gulen in India. The two discussed ways in which India could also become a source of food supply to the kingdom besides further cooperating in the energy sector.

In a separate brief pull-aside with French President Francois Hollande, the Prime Minister discussed the massive data leak of the Scorpene submarines, designed by French company DCNS, the MEA spokesperson said.

The prime minister said a stable global economic and financial system was imperative as it promotes inclusive and sustainable growth.

“Clearly, someone funds and arms them, and BRICS must intensify joint efforts not just to fight terror but to coordinate actions to isolate those who are supporters and sponsors of terror”, he said.

May said she backed Modi’s reform agenda and that the United Kingdom was keen to participate in Make in India, Smart Cities and the Skill India Programme among others. “In particular, he said that the new United Kingdom regulations could have negative impact on Indian working professionals wishing to visit United Kingdom for short term business visits”, Swarup said.

The comments of Modi at G20 summit come against the backdrop of escalating war of words between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the continuing violence in the Kashmir Valley that broke out on 8th July 2016 after terrorist Hizbul Commander Burhan Wani was killed by security forces. Modi also sought the British Prime Minister’s suggestions on further strengthening the partnership particularly trade and investment ties. Fresh from his visit to the United States, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is expected to visit Britain shortly.

Modi also made another intervention on “Robust International Trade and Investment”, where he said the “global trade is at a cross roads”, the Press Trust of India news agency reported. She underlined the great importance the United Kingdom attached to the Indian diaspora. Mr Modi also held bilateral meeting with President of Argentina Mauricio Macri.
