But then came the second half when UH just dominated Oklahoma so badly that it obviously rattled the Sooners, especially on a drive where OU wasted two timeouts.
Meanwhile, P.J. Philip Walker had an absolutely disgusting game for Temple.
Rosen threw three interceptions while working under heavy pressure from a defense led by Myles Garrett. Herman’s name could keep popping up for bigger jobs … but Houston has promised to pay him $5 million a year if it joins the Big 12.
This looked like trouble in river city for awhile.
But UCLA’s offense finally got going after that, scoring twice in two minutes with the second one coming on a 62-yard pass by Rosen to cut it two 2. Mayfield at times looked hesitant to throw, and in one instance, he was sacked on a fourth-and-16 in the fourth quarter.
Side note: If you want to bet on the college football coach most likely to pull a June Jones and completely mail it in this year, Tommy Tuberville is the overwhelming favorite. They probably would have if Maine’s kicker wasn’t so college kicker-y. Then in the second half we did.
It arguably was the program’s biggest opener in history, but even that wasn’t enough to sway people into thinking that the Cougs could do anything to be competitive on Saturday.

Even field goal Ty Cummings’ 45-yard field goal before the half, which gave the Cougars the lead for good, was a career long.

Texas A&M 31, No. 16 UCLA 24 (OT): Trevor Knight accounted for three touchdowns, including the deciding score in overtime, as Texas A&M upset No. 16 UCLA. Houston rallied to take a 13-10 lead, but Oklahoma ripped it right back on a 64-yard pitch-and-catch to a wiiiiiiide open Mark Andrews. Xavier Jones ran for 115 yards and a touchdown, and SMU’s defense intercepted Alec Morris three times.

Tulsa tops San Jose St. Keevan Lucas returned from the knee injury that ended his 2015 season to catch six passes for 112 yards. They scored two defensive touchdowns and led 38-7 at halftime.
