Barack Obama Warns China Of ‘Consequences’ Over Behaviour In South China Sea

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday said he urged world leaders to establish a no-fly zone in northern Syria, two weeks after Turkish forces pushed the “Islamic State” militant group and Kurdish militias from the border area.
However, he said that given the gaps of trust that exist, that’s a tough negotiation.
On Sunday, after an anticipated news conference did not take place, Kerry told reporters that his negotiations here with Lavrov snagged on “a couple of tough issues” – almost identical to the language he used when the two failed to reach agreement in their last meeting, just over a week ago in Geneva.
Modi, who came here from his first visit to Vietnam, met Xi and held talks on a host of issues, including bilateral tensions between the two countries.
The president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, said Sunday that the Group of 20 meeting “must urgently find a solution” to excess steel production that Beijing’s trading partners blame for job losses.
The global circumstances in which the G20 leaders are meeting are also far from promising, but numerous issues with which the G20 is grappling are not so different from those of previous summits.
Today’s article said the U.S. and China signing the deal is an “incredibly significant act towards the treaty coming into force, as it requires at least 55 countries that together account for at least 55 per cent of global emissions”. Chinese officials insist steel overcapacity is a global issue, but US and European officials say Beijing’s vast state-owned industry, which accounts for half of global output, is the root of the problem. This, after Duterte warned Obama not to question him about extrajudicial killings in his country.
But Duterte did not take kindly to that notion.
“You must be respectful”, Duterte said of Obama.
The Turkish president also said his country was cooperating with Russian Federation for a ceasefire to be declared in the Aleppo region before the Eid al-Adha Muslim holiday, which is due around September 12. Many leaders are already looking ahead to January, when either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump assumes the business of state.
“We’re not there yet”, Obama told reporters Sunday.
Last month, Duterte said he didn’t mind Secretary of State John Kerry but “had a feud with his gay ambassador – son of a bitch, I’m annoyed with that guy”. “So why was it only the United States that didn’t?”

Eager to show he wouldn’t yield, Obama said he would “undoubtedly” still bring up human rights and due process concerns “if and when” the two do meet. “I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that need to be talked about and, if nothing else, what he’s doing has generated more conversation around some topics that need to be talked about”.
