‘Bridget Jones’ Baby’ cast teases sequel’s ‘interesting new dynamic’

And the furore shows no signs of slowing down as Zellweger promotes the new movie, which sees Bridget face childbirth alongside new heartthrob Jack Qwant, played by Patrick Dempsey, and her ex-husband Mark Darcy, a role resumed by Oscar victor Colin Firth.

Crowds gathered in Leicester Square to catch a glimpse of the cast of the third Bridget Jones film, in which Renee Zellweger plays the disaster-prone, chardonnay-swigging heroine.

The last time Bridget had to choose a man, she picked Mark instead of Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) – who’s vanished from the franchise in an unexpected way.

Zellweger, whose weight fluctuation for both Bridget Jones films had elicited collective gasps from the media, was evidently annoyed by the attention to her eyes and finally gave a statement to People magazine: “I’m glad folks think I look different!”

Sure, this may not seem like a big deal and it may not have even been her intention to be a big deal, but it is.

Renée Zellweger knows just how tough the choice her character, Bridget Jones, faces in “Bridget Jones’ Baby” is.

Bridget finds herself alone with a cupcake and a bottle of wine on her 45th birthday in the opening scene of “Bridget Jones’s Baby.” . But Bridget Jones ultimately succeeds because it manages to take a simple, light premise and tell a tale about forging a path forward for your life when things don’t work out exactly as planned.

Talking on the red carpet, Colin Firth, who plays Mr Darcy, said he would be open to returning. How could the gloriously imperfect Miss Jones and her 20th century obsessions elbow their way clumsily back into our 24-hour, cynical world?

While now older and working as a television news producer, Jones, described by Zellweger as “a character that I love”, still gets up to plenty of mishaps.

“.As far as I can tell she’s had an eyelid lift, as her hooded lids were almost covering her eyes, so I don’t see anything wrong with her wanting to fix an obvious problem”. Now the mother to be must figure out if the father is Mark or Jack.

Critics say she is seriously out of touch, perpetuating a dated portrayal of the modern woman and generally doing us all a great disservice.
