Talking about his roadshow, the Gandhi scion tweeted, “My yatra from Deoria to Delhi starting September 6 is a campaign to secure the rights of the poor, farmers and labourers in government resources”. One of the reasons given by Antony report was felt that Congress’s Muslim outreach has alienated the Hindu voters and the party had suffered an image of being an appeasement party. The assembly seat is presently represented by Congress member Akhilesh Pratap Singh, a close confidante of the Gandhi family.
Gandhi will also hold road shows at various places during the yatra.

The yatra from Deoria is chosen as the district was native of famous Deoraha Baba, whom the former prime minister Indira Gandhi sought blessings both before 1977 and later in 1980 and won polls by huge margins.
In these khat meeting around 70 to 80 farmers would sit on the “khats” and Gandhi would interact with them personally by going to their homes.
Senior advocate UR Lalit, appearing for the RSS functionary, submitted that such a statement was needed from Rahul, as in the last 60 years, whenever there was an election, Congress made an attempt to blame RSS for the killing of the Father of the Nation.
