CCTV from inside and outside a Glasgow deli in which 15-year-old Paige Doherty was murdered has been released by the Crown Office.
Paige’s disappearance prompted a huge police search after she failed to turn up to a part-time job at a hairdressing salon on March 19.
The 4ft 8in schoolgirl went missing after a sleepover at a friend’s home in Clydebank on Friday, March 19, and was last seen buying a sausage roll from Leathem’s shop “Delicious Deli”.
Footage of Leathem taking Paige’s body and putting it in the boot of his auto was also shown, with further tears heard from those in court.
CCTV footage showed him carrying Paige’s body out of the shop in a bin bag and putting it in the boot of his vehicle.
Friends and family members left tributes to her at the site where her body was found, while 600 mourners attended her funeral at St Margaret’s Catholic Church in the town where her mother Pamela Munro described her as her “best friend”.
Her anxious mother, Pamela Munro, reported her missing after checking with friends, who said they had not heard from her either.
Throughout the rest of the footage, Doherty is seen frantically running to and from his vehicle before retuning to his deli later in the evening, calming unpacking his shopping.
A 32-year-old man is facing a life sentence for the brutal murder of Kirkintilloch hairdresser Paige Doherty.
Shop owner Leathem was arrested three days later over the death – a killing which stunned the community and wider public.
“What started as a missing person inquiry quickly escalated to a murder investigation after Paige’s body was found”.
Leathem claims Paige responded: “I thought I was getting a job” before adding “I’ll just say you touched me”, the court heard. Leathem’s defence said he then over-reacted to this by grabbing a knife and repeatedly stabbed her.
He continued: “It is not my position that the nature of the comment would mitigate the number of stab wounds or the brutality of the attack”.
Her husband Andrew Munro – Paige’s stepfather – was said to be “living in a state of depression”. “I don’t know if it is true or not, but I am only taking the instructions of the accused for what took place”.
Her death certificate disclosed that the cause of her death was “sharp force injuries” to the neck.
These are tragic schoolgirl Paige Doherty ‘s chilling last moments as she entered John Leathem’s deli before being stabbed 61 times in a “frenzied” attack.
“This, coupled with extensive forensic examinations of the crime scenes, helped to establish what happened to Paige and who was responsible”.
“These type of incidents are very rare in Scotland and Paige’s untimely death shocked a community to its core, particularly as the man responsible was one of them”.

“The support from the local community has been much appreciated and I hope that Paige’s family can take some comfort from the result of the court proceedings today”, Sloan said.
