True freshman quarterback Shane Buechele rained deep bombs through the revamped Irish secondary, then bruising senior Tyrone Swoopes came in to balance the attack with the power-run game and keep Notre Dame frazzled. The 6th year graduate transfer started in place of Max Redfield who was kicked off the team two weeks ago and struggled in his Notre Dame starting debut prior to the injury. It was no secret what Texas wanted to do with him; Notre Dame just couldn’t stop it.

“You don’t get rid of fear or nerves by saying, ‘I’m not nervous, ‘” he proclaimed.
