Donald Trump created ‘diplomatic incident’ with Mexico trip: Hillary Clinton

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton opened a final two-month sprint to the November 8 election on Monday with the Republican presidential nominee suddenly looking stronger as he and his Democratic rival took their bitter fight to Ohio.

The Democratic presidential nominee appeared relaxed and engaged as she fielded about a dozen questions from the media on a wide range of subjects, calling several reporters by name and leaning in to hear some queries better.

Trump and his running mate, Mike Pence, prepared to leave Cleveland as Clinton and Tim Kaine arrived. It was a near-encounter that even forced the Trump press corps to the side of the road as Ms Clinton’s motorcade went by.

“To install half a billion more solar panels by the end of my first term, it takes a lot of jobs a lot of people working to do that”, said Clinton.

On this labor day Hillary Clinton attended the Salute to Labor picnic to talk about American workers.

Voter doubts about Trump are just as rampant, with 57 percent of all likely voters reporting they aren’t confident the billionaire developer “has the right temperament” to be commander-in-chief, while 48 percent have a “very unfavorable” opinion of him.

OH is considered one of four swing states – those that are not clearly in the Democratic or Republican camp – that could prove decisive in the Electoral College vote that will ultimately determine the victor.

Trump took part in what has been a rarity for him, some retail campaigning among voters. No Republican has won the White House without carrying the state and the airport offered a vivid imagery of that crucial role.

Earlier in the day, Trump attacked Clinton’s energy level, noting she hasn’t followed his aggressive traveling schedule and questioning whether she had the stamina to help bring jobs back to America.

Over the summer Donald Trump objected to the presidential debate schedule, but “as of this moment”, he is on board for all three debates.

This pivotal month of campaigning culminates in the first presidential debate on September 26 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

And while Sunday’s CBS News Battleground Tracker shows Clinton, 68, leading Trump in two key states – by 8 points in Pennsylvania and 4 points in North Carolina – recent polls show the race tightening nationally.

In addition to her debating skills, Clinton has millions of dollars at her disposal to air television adverts and power a get-out-the-vote operation in tossup states.

Her campaign later confirmed her decision.

Clinton and Trump were each joined by their running mates in OH, a signal of the importance each campaign places on the Buckeye State. The emails, later revealed by WikiLeaks, showed some DNC officials favoring Clinton over her primary opponent, Bernie Sanders who has since endorsed Clinton for president. A Clinton victory in Florida would make it virtually impossible for Trump to overcome her advantage in the race for 270 electoral votes.

Clinton arrived in OH aboard a new blue-and-white Boeing 737 campaign plane emblazoned with her slogan, “Stronger Together”. “Every time I think of Trump, I get allergic”, Clinton croaked in between coughs, after drinking some water and patting her chest.

Clinton said the cough – which also surfaced during the start of a rally in Cleveland – was the result of seasonal allergies.

Clinton said it was “interesting that this activity has happened around the time Trump became the nominee” and said the Republican nominee’s ties to Putin – including glowing statements – “raises even more serious questions about Trump”.
