Quarterback J.T. Barrett (21 of 31 for 349 yards) tied an Ohio State record with six touchdown passes.

Barrett was the catalyst.

Ohio State’s offense broke records on Saturday.

Before suffering a season-ending ankle injury against MI in the regular season finale, Barrett completed 203-of-314 passes (64.6 percent) for 2,834 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while also running for 938 yards and 11 touchdowns on 171 carries in 12 games.

Barrett also posted six TDs in 2014, matching a feat accomplished by former Buckeyes Kenny Guiton and Tony Curcillo. Today will be the first time Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer faces BGSU, which he coached from 2001-02.

“The one thing about it – careers are made here and legends are born”. They’re going to come here ready to play, and we know that. I can’t wait to watch them to play.

Ohio State might have changed a great deal, but the game did not.

“He’s a cagey veteran”, said Meyer. I think that’s the direction we’re headed. And I like our players.

“I think he would have been (one of OSU’s best receivers) previous year”, Meyer said, according to landof10.com. “And I’m real excited about them”.

Samuel touched the ball 22 times and accounted for 261 total yards with three touchdowns.

Ohio State running back Curtis Samuel celebrates his touchdown against Bowling Green during the first half of an NCAA college football game Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, in Columbus, Ohio. Freshman running back Demario McCall added two late touchdowns.

“Mike Weber had a very good day”, said Meyer. “We’re still getting some kinks out but I’m happy with where it’s at”. The previous mark of 718 yards was previously set against the Mount Union Purple Raiders in the 1930 season.

2016 is a new year though and the role for Ohio State’s Samuel is much greater this year. I’m trying to hold down the excitement because I really am.

Hill was one of nine receivers to make a catch and one of five different players to score in the first half.

Any fear of another home-opening stinkeroo vanished as quickly as three first quarter touchdown passes by Barrett obliterated the pick-6 he threw to give BG a 7-0 lead. He’ll start after running for 825 yards and scoring five touchdowns in a backup role past year.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are hosting the Bowling Green Falcons in college football action on Saturday. The most impressive coming from Malik Hooker with a one-handed tipped deflection that he turned into an interception.

The Falcons’ only touchdown came in the first quarter when Barrett’s second pass of the day was picked off by linebacker Brandon Harris and returned for a 63-yard touchdown.

“It just made me appreciate the game that much more with every chance I got onto the field”, Brown said. “We definitely want to spread the wealth and try to get it in the playmakers’ hands”.

But it was all downhill from there for the Buckeyes. He couldn’t pull his starters too soon, because like the rest of us, he needed to see what they could actually do in something other than a spring game. Yes, that means he is the player who gets to replace Ezekiel Elliott. They played well. But let’s not put the cart before the horse and start anointing anyone. They played pretty good.

Bowling Green QB James Knapke had some tough breaks, highlighted by some key drops.

NOTES: Ohio State DT Tracy Sprinkle sustained a season-ending knee injury.

Ohio State lost a ton of talent to the National Football League draft, but many believe this year’s team under Urban Meyer has the makings of another classic Buckeye squad. Gibson was expected to be in the Buckeyes’ wide receiver rotation.

The Falcons won the Mid-American Conference title last season and have played in three consecutive MAC championship games. It was also be the first game for new Falcons coach Mike Jinks, who previously was an assistant at Texas Tech. “I was frustrated that I went down close to the start of the season”. Ohio State hasn’t lost to an in-state opponent since it was beaten by Oberlin in 1921.
