The National Lampoon’s “Vacation” star is an in-patient at Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center in Minnesota, a representative for the actor told People magazine.
The 72-year-old is set to appear in 2 upcoming movies – “Dog Years” which is now being filmed and “The Christmas Apprentice” which has already wrapped.
Chase left Saturday Night Live after just one season – the first – but his Weekend Update segment lives on to this day 40 seasons later.
Though his agent at the time said it was because he was “dependent on prescription drugs relating to chronic and long-term back problems”, Chase later said he was “pretty low-level when it came to drug abuse”.
In a 2010 interview with Esquire, Chase described his past drug use, saying, “I never shot things up or freebased”.
