Putin says some alignment with US on Syria after Obama talks
Moscow and Washington support different sides in Syria’s festering conflict that has left 290,000 dead, with Russian Federation backing President Bashar al-Assad while the United States supports rebel groups fighting him.

“We understand that many of our citizens are frustrated by the pace of globalization and feel they’re not experiencing the benefits of worldwide trade”, Obama said. In a 90-minute meeting, Mr. Obama tried to salvage a ceasefire deal in Syria, but he’s leaving empty-handed.
There was no mention of a global stimulus or other joint action, which officials said earlier was unworkable because economic conditions vary widely from country to country. “India has striven to become a world power and to have a bigger say in global affairs, hence it needs to shoulder its due responsibilities and take actions, regardless of the difficulties, to help save the planet”, it said.
Leaders at the meeting have said they will call for “inclusive growth” – a reference to efforts to defuse pressure to protect local industries by spreading the benefits of closer global integration to millions of people who have been left behind by wrenching changes. The failure of the last truce is apparently weighing heavily on President Obama and USA officials, who are skeptical that Russian Federation will stick to the terms of any deal – specifically, that the Kremlin will actually use its influence to pressure Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to stop waging attacks the moderate opposition forces who are backed by the US coalition forces.
The official said Obama raised concerns about cybersecurity issues with Putin, but would not detail the discussions.
The US hopes to align with Russian Federation to identify terrorist targets, including ISIS and the Nusra Front, a group formerly tied to al-Qaeda.
“Typically, the tone of our meetings are candid, blunt, businesslike – and this one was no different”, was how Obama described it to reporters.
Also a hot topic: the presidential race back home, which world leaders are monitoring closely.
Even though Obama bemoaned the “terrible attempted coup” that failed to topple Erdogan in July, the Turkish President did not shy away from raising differences with the United States in front of the press. He’ll be the first sitting USA president to visit the small Southeast Asian nation.
“All forms of terrorism are bad”. Officials hope a ceasefire will help advance talks on a political transition that would lead to the resignation of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
President Barack Obama says there is symbolic value to his coming visit to Laos.
“I think we all to have recognize these are turbulent times. After all, New Delhi has a dilemma to address”, the article said. “But then when you look back over the course of eight years, actually you find out things have gotten better”.

Mr Turnbull told the summit protectionism was “not a ladder to get us out of the low growth trap – it’s a shovel to dig that hole deeper”. “We are really insisting on the need to take this seriously”.
