Putin says some alignment with United States on Syria after Obama talks

Speaking at a news conference at the close of the G20 summit, Merkel said that there was 10 times as much direct investment in the European Union as in Africa.

“Typically the tone of our meetings [is] candid, blunt, businesslike – and this one was no different”, the USA president said, adding that in China he and Putin “had some productive conversations”, as both countries need to “focus attention on common enemies, like ISIL [Islamic State] and Al-Nusra”.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he was working with the US-led coalition and Russian Federation to try to establish a ceasefire in Aleppo before the Eid al-Adha religious holiday expected to start around September 11.

President Obama sat down with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in China on Monday, in a meeting that covered a laundry list of hot-button issues, from cyber attacks on the U.S.to the civil war in Syria and ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.

The meeting was frequently overshadowed by other concerns and got off to a rocky start Saturday when there was no staircase at the airport for Obama to exit his plane.

White House officials said last week that Obama would confront Duterte about the killings.

“(We) will not only fend off short-term risks, but also pay attention to the medium-to-long term growth potential”. “I thank Chinese people & government for the great hospitality during the Summit”, PM Modi tweeted before emplaning for Delhi. Nobody, but nobody. You must be respectful.

“Who is he (Obama) to confront me?”

China and the United States ratified the Paris agreement on cutting climate-warming emissions on the eve of the G20 summit, setting the stage for other countries to follow suit.

The hard diplomacy on Syria set the tone for an uneven few days for Obama on his final tour of Asia as president. Many leaders are already looking ahead to January, when either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump assumes the business of state.

The president also discussed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, which has come under attack from both parties during this campaign season.

Obama stressed that theme at a separate news conference with May. United States officials believe that Russian hackers are responsible for the recent Democratic National Committee breach, which some fear was meant to influence the upcoming presidential election. May said the final decision would be made later this month. “It is indisputable that it would create a better deal for us than the status quo”, Obama said.

Obama said it was not an anti-American gesture and that it was clear that the San Francisco 49ers player is honest and “cares about some real, legitimate issues”.
