Vikings’ GM Rick Spielman goes All-In on Sam Bradford

But that plan changed Saturday when, just eight days before their season-opener against the Cleveland Browns, the Eagles traded Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings.

The tentative plan going into this week’s practice is to prepare Hill to start the season opener at Tennessee six days later.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Bradford “will be armed with a simplified version of the offense in case Hill is injured”. Coaches will then decide if Bradford can start the September 18 prime-time home opener against the Packers at brand new $1.1 billion U.S. Bank Stadium.

The quarterback, acquired Saturday by the Vikings from Philadelphia, has missed 27 of 48 games the past three seasons because of injuries.

“Circumstances change and you’ve got to take things one day at a time and see what goes on with your football team”, Roseman said.

Before making the move, the Eagles didn’t have a first-round pick for 2017 when the draft will be held in Philadelphia.

Houston coach Bill O’Brien said Friday that Watt was doing much better than a couple of weeks ago and that it “looks decent” for him to play against the Bears.

The Vikings shipped off their 2017 first round pick along with a conditional fourth rounder for the veteran quarterback. The Vikings get a guy in Bradford who’s numbers don’t jump off the page, due to a small sample size, but is capable of helping the team more than hurting the team.

The Vikings also have to be fearing that Bridgewater’s freak injury could be a career-ender. Spielman said he wasn’t going to jeopardize our future, and this certainly seemed like a lot. The Eagles traded Bradford Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, to the Minnesota Vikings for a pair of draft picks.

Bridgewater suffered a dislocated left knee, torn anterior cruciate ligament and other structural damage in a routine practice drill on Tuesday and is facing surgery. It may not start out that way, with Chase Daniel likely getting the starting nod until Wentz’s rib injury is fully healed, but Wentz should see plenty of playing time now.

“We had to make a very hard decision on what’s going to give us the best chance to win”, Spielman said, adding: “I understand at times there’s a premium you have to pay”.

A year spent rooting for a short-term starting quarterback is a wasted year as a fan. This isn’t just a one-year rental. They also moved $21 million to sign Daniel.

“Hmm, Vikings get Bradford”.

The Bradford deal was struck before the Eagles knew they could move up the draft board. The rest of his contract – $20 million in base salaries and $4 million March 2017 roster bonus – would go to the team that traded for Bradford.

“We talked about it, but I wasn’t thinking it was very serious”, Roseman told MMQB. Ryan cracked the starting lineup down the stretch as a rookie fourth-round draft pick, and Barrington has been working his way back from a foot injury that cost him most of the season.

The Vikings have moved back inside after a two-year stint at the University of Minnesota while their $1.1 billion, ship-shaped, see-through venue was being built. Goode didn’t necessarily stand out this preseason, but he’s showed potential in the past as a solid option as a backup linebacker who can play any linebacker position.

Wide receiver Paul Turner, offensive tackle Dillon Gordon, defensive tackle Destiny Vaeao and cornerback C.J. Smith all made the initial 53-man roster.

Then again, he never was surrounded by a stacked supporting cast like this – with All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson and a talented, young defense – in his five seasons with the St. Louis Rams and his lone season in Philadelphia.
