Trudeau is nearing the end of his eight-day trip to China, during which he also held bilateral talks focused mainly on trade and investment with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

The G20 members agreed to promote trade multilateralism and work against protectionism, and developed a guideline for global investment, the first framework rule for cross-border investment.

A United States spy agency is apologizing for a tweet that jabbed at China over its treatment of American reporters who had traveled with President Barack Obama to cover the G20 meeting there.

He said talks between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on a Syrian truce and provision of humanitarian aid could take “several more days”. It said the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development will lead a “global forum” on steel overcapacity and identify uncooperative tax havens.

Significant sticking points remain in the negotiations over creation of an unlikely U.S.

Discussions at the meeting were distracted by North Korea test-firing three medium-range ballistic missiles in a defiant reminder of the risks to global security.

As the president was greeted by his Chinese hosts, Mr Obama’s aides and journalists accompanying the president clashed with a Chinese official as they tried to watch the ceremony.

China is North Korea’s main patron and protector but has been either unwilling or unable to rein in its nuclear and missile ambitions that have sent tensions soaring across East Asia and beyond.

Obama says the United States and Russian Federation are working to try to finalise a ceasefire in Syria that would allow more deliveries of humanitarian aid.

President Barack Obama said Monday the USA and Russian Federation have not given up on negotiations that could stem the bloodshed in Syria, but acknowledged that leaders are challenged by “gaps of trust” between the rival powers. On Monday, it was reported that USA intelligence agencies are probing what they believe are Russian efforts to influence the vote.

One of the few areas where there was progress was in protecting the environment. China’s unfavourable perception in other countries despite its vast infrastructural feats in those countries has troubled Beijing, which continues to angle for a greater global role even as it grapples with tensions in its own neighbourhood. After the meetings, the International Monetary Fund’s Christine Lagarde told The Wall Street Journal, “There must be more growth and growth must be more inclusive”.

“We must all work together to spur economic growth, to boost free trade and build a fairer economy that truly works for all”, he said.

Talking about the prospects for cooperation between Moscow and London, the Russian leader said the Kremlin is “ready to restore relations with the United Kingdom and go in this as far as they want us to”. The Chinese allegedly snubbed the president by failing to roll out a staircase and red carpet for Air Force One, though they claim it was what the United States wanted.

“The one thing that we have to ensure we do is to move in concert with other countries, because there is always a danger that if one. acts unilaterally, that it’s not just a matter of a USA company being impacted, but it may also have an impact in terms of our ability to collect taxes from that same company”, Obama said.
