Temer was sworn in as Brazil’s new leader on Wednesday following the ouster of President Dilma Rousseff.
According to various reports, independent auditors did not find Rousseff involved in breaking fiscal responsibility laws. Those senators deny any wrongdoing.
Brazil’s sacked ex-president Dilma Rousseff said Friday she will abandon the presidential residence next week and continue the fight against her successor Michel Temer from her adopted hometown, Porto Alegre.
Investors are hoping that President Michel Temer will pass reforms to support an economy that over the past two years has been battered by an unprecedented corruption scandal and a crippling political crisis.
News websites such as O Estadao and G1 reported that the amendment introduces flexibility on using public money to fund programs without Congress’ approval. He claimed that the economic policies being pursued by Temer, including a 20-year social spending freeze, massive cuts to social security benefits and a counter-reform of labor laws, were necessary to reverse the country’s deep economic crisis, which has driven the official unemployment rate to almost 12 percent.
The central bank kept the Selic at a 10-year high of 14.25 percent last week, indicating that borrowing costs will only fall when policy makers are more confident that inflation will hit the 4.5 percent target in 2017.
According to officials from the Joint Budget Committee, this change would have no effect in the process that resulted in Rousseff’s dismissal.
Known as “Car Wash”, the corruption case came to light after authorities discovered a ring of money launderers in gas stations and vehicle washes. Ms Rousseff has repeatedly insisted that she did nothing illegal, pointing out that her predecessors also manipulated the federal Budget.
Major parties in the governing conservative coalition pressed the Supreme Court on Friday to overturn the Senate decision allowing her to remain politically active, a move her lawyers dismissed as likely to fail as the court would have to annul both Senate votes as one had influenced the other.
Temer is due to lead the country until the end of the current presidential term in 2018.

A crowd estimated at between 50,000 and 100,000 people filled Avenida Paulista for the demonstration, which was called despite an attempt by the state government of Governor Geraldo Alckmin of the right-wing Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) to ban all gatherings there on Sunday.
