Howard and Pak tied the knot in October 2013 after only dating a short time.
After hearing Howard’s testimonies, the decision will be finalized on Monday.
He went on to deny allegations of domestic abuse, insisting Ghent was the one who lashed out at him in a jealous rage, hurling food at him after he filmed a passionate kissing scene with his “Winnie Mandela” co-star Jennifer Hudson in South Africa.
The “Empire” star has admitted in court that he and second spouse Michelle Ghent would watch porn, smoke marijuana, do cocaine and take ecstasy together during their brief marriage. Asked by his attorney whether he considered the payment hush money, Howard responded, “I consider it blood money”.
Other evidence that Ghent possessed included a phone conversation between him and his mother and a copy of a “phone sex” between him and another girl, to name a few.
Howard said he paid Ghent $40,000 in 2011 after she threatened to release materials including a video of him naked and dancing in the bathroom.
“I loved her, and I was afraid of her also”, he said.
He alleges she threatened to make the “intimate” recordings public during their 2012 divorce settlement and now he wants the terms of their settlement thrown out.
“I will never love someone like I loved you”, Howard told Ghent in the October 2013 call. She also told the actor that she had called the Internal Revenue Service to report improper deductions.
Howard and Ghent were married in 2010, and she filed for divorce a year later. Superior Court Judge Thomas Trent Lewis told attorneys Ghent would not be allowed to testify because her lawyers hadn’t submitted a sworn declaration from her.
The divorce agreement gave Ghent several bank accounts and left Howard with responsibility for several debts, including tax liens.
