According to Mashable, the platform on which the set was constructed suddenly collapsed on top of him. However, Origo spokesperson declined to comment on possible causes of the accident, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The Blade Runner sequel was not shooting at Origo at the time, having already wrapped there, which is why the sets were being dismantled.

An unidentified Hungarian construction worker was killed on the set “Blade Runner 2” in a freak accident in Hungary.

HollywoodLifers, what do you think production companies can do to make sure sets are safer for the cast and crew working on them to avoid accidents like this?

Deckard, a blade runner, has to track down a group of renegade replicants who’ve returned to Earth seeking their maker. In that case, a button for the operation of a hydraulic door hadn’t been properly labeled and someone had pressed the button, while Ford stood in the doorway. The accident happened while he was dismantling one of the sets underneath a platform.

Harrison Ford will star in the new Blade Runner sequel three decades after the first film was produced.

The follow-up to Sir Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic will see Ford return as Rick Deckard and stars Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista play new characters.

Only last week it was announced that Jared Leto would join the already star-studded cast. The movie is being directed by Sicario and Prisoners filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. The science fiction author is also behind the stories of Minority Report and The Man in the High Castle.
