That leaves the Pac-12 with just three ranked teams entering Week 2, while Utah, UCLA, USC and Colorado received votes.
It’s Louisville’s highest ranking in the coaches’ poll since being No. 15 on November 16, 2013.
The Big Three on the Cards’ 2016 schedule look like an even mightier challenge in the new poll – No. 3 FSU on September 17, No. 2 Clemson on October 1 and No. 7 Houston on November 17. The Cougars gained six positions to check in at No. 7 following their important triumph over Oklahoma.
The Crimson Tide strengthened their hold on the top spot following their dominant performance against Southern California, picking up 62 of 64 first-place votes. Clemson got the other two.
As it did in the preseason poll, Ohio State leads the way, at No. 4, while Michigan (No. 6), Michigan State (No. 8) and Iowa (No. 10) round out the Big Ten’s top 10 teams.
