Police believe 19-year-old Junior Silverio-Ventura was driving the auto that struck Dunn and have charged him with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, authorities said.
He was held overnight at county police headquarters in Hawthorne and will be arraigned Tuesday in Yonkers City Court.
Police said Zachary Dunn pulled his Nissan Sentra over on the parkway around 2:50 a.m. Monday near McLean Avenue in Yonkers while driving with a friend after getting a flat tire.
The people inside the Acura TSX quickly got into another auto, a similar gray or blue Acura TSX, or a vehicle that resembles the make and model, and they all took off, police said.
“We are still investigating how many people were in the two cars”, Westchester police spokesman Kieran O’Leary said in a statement.
Police don’t suspect Dunn is linked to the other drivers. A passenger in his auto was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers with non-life threatening injuries.
Commissioner George N. Longworth said the investigation was continuing and additional charges were possible. Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call Westchester County Police at 914-864-7701.
