Jio’s unlimited free calls may lure voice customers from competitors

The 4G entrant’s appetite to sustain its disruptive pricing model, according to experts, stems from the fact that Jio is bankrolled by parent Reliance Industries, which is sitting on a cash pile of almost Rs 91,000 crore.

The price war means Indian mobile users should be the winners.

It is also to be noted that all the above factors will depend on how well Jio maintains its low tariffs and service quality.

Airtel saw a market fall of Rs 12,000 crore while the market value of Idea Cellular cascaded down by Rs 3,000 crore, after the launch of the Reliance 4G service. Reliance Jio is also deploying Wi-Fi hotspots at key locations nationwide and Jio customers will have access to them, besides free access to all of Jio’s content library, including live and stored TV, movies, songs, magazines and newspapers till December 31, 2017.

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), an organisation that represents Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and others, had protested previous year, saying Jio was giving out full-fledged services to customers under the guise of testing.

Reliance said it will be offering high-speed data at Rs. 50 per GB and gets as cheap as Rs. 25 per GB with higher consumption. Jio’s tariff plans may gradually push the market toward “data-only plans”, under which customers are charged only for data, not for voice and text messages.

Reliance conducted the 42nd Annual General Meeting where it announced variety of offers for users. After being launched for a few selected models of a few selected companies in India, Jio sim cards will now be released for all 4G users. Airtel and Vodafone are both large players in India right now. Also, Idea has 4G spectrum in six out of its eight key circles, with net 4G spectrum in 10 circles and 3G+4G coverage at 87 percent of revenue base. Prices will drop well below US$1 per GB, which may boost the number of Bitcoin users in the country to new heights. That is quite an unusual position, as heavy users would usually end up paying extra.

How Reliance Jio Offers Unlimited Data at Night?

Reliance Jio 4G plans: Rjio is universally available (everywhere, not just in Reliance Stores) starting today – Sept 5, 2016.

Walk-in customers who could not get a SIM have been issued tokens and the company will call them as soon as the next stock comes up, as per company employees, added the report. However, Reliance is expected to reveal more details on it by the end of this year.

In fact, the Reliance Jio 4G DATA Tariffs are more beneficiary to prepaid users when compared to the postpaid users.

Reliance Industries Ltd's telecom arm has announced free lifetime voice calls and roaming services for its users along with data charges at about one-tenth of the prevailing rates
