Honda Accord hybrid India launch likely in October

Now that they are under new leaders they will want to regain a footing and they are introducing a plug-in hybrid that is dedicated along with an all-electric vehicle, which should be launched in 2018. However, the official date is not disclosed yet.

The next-gen Honda Accord Hybrid will be applicable for central government’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric (& Hybrid) Vehicles or FAME subsidy and will also see reduced Value-Added Tax at 5 per cent in the national capital, Delhi. Also, the Accord carried a solid price tag as well. The Honda Accord Hybrid made its return following an absence of one year and it offers up 48mpg combined. There are chrome elements on the grille and the bumpers too have been re-designed, having a lean, angular look. The alloy wheel design on the auto is also new and continues to look elegant, like the one on the older model.

This will be the ninth generation of the Honda Accord to be launched. Also the overall length and width of the saloon have been reduced by 80mm and 25mm respectively. The Hybrid version will get a 2.0-litre iVTEC engine which will be coupled with twin electric motors which will be linked to an E-CVT unit and a 1.3 kW lithium ion battery. The petrol motor can easily develop 141bhp alone whereas the combination power figures goes up to 196bhp with 306Nm of peak torque.

The new-gen Accord will be fully loaded with features such as a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heated seats and so on.

Expected to arrive in the Indian market during the festive season through CBU route, the sedan is likely to be priced in the range of INR 22 lakh – INR 30 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, the Accord hybrid will be pitched against Toyota Camry Hybrid.
