Milos Raonic’s preparations for the US Open have been dealt a blow as the Canadian and coach John McEnroe have parted ways.

“I think it’s best and easiest at this point”.
McEnroe was unsure whether the partnership might resume after the US Open, where Raonic plays Germany’s Dustin Brown in the first round on Monday. “I know that everything I had I did put into that match, into that final, because I knew the importance of it”.
McEnroe admitted his media commitments “ended up becoming an issue at Wimbledon”, but added he was “open to the possibility” of a second coaching stint should Raonic seek it.
“But I think I could have expressed it more externally to get a little bit of pressure off myself and get a little energy out and convert it and use it in a better way”.
“He felt like that was the right decision. We spoke about it, were up front, and there’s no ill feelings over it”.

“There’s certain things I’m trying to bring awareness to in my game”, he said.
Although he lost to Murray for the fifth time this year in the semi-finals at the Western and Southern Open last week after opting to sit out the Olympics, the Canadian can still be considered one of the top contenders at the US Open.
