Trump Takes 2-Point Lead on Clinton

Democrat Hillary Clinton has failed to take advantage of the squalls surrounding GOP rival Donald Trump and heads into the fall campaign with a tenuous lead and strong voter doubts about her trustworthiness, a new Franklin Pierce University/-Boston Herald poll reveals.

Their rally was the culmination of the city’s annual Labor Day parade, and introducing them were two national union leaders, the presidents of the AFL-CIO and AFSCME.

But the Republican flagbearer’s unorthodox White House bid, including his campaign’s apparent imperviousness to criticism about his harsh rhetoric, assures a tight contest leading up to November 8. “The fact I couldn’t remember certain meetings, whether or not they had occurred, doesn’t in any way affect the commitment that I had and still have to the treatment of classified material”.

The airplanes of Trump and his running mate, Mike Pence, were parked on the tarmac as Clinton and her vice presidential pick, Tim Kaine, arrived in separate planes.

“We’ve never had a nominee of one of our major parties urging the Russians to hack more”, said Clinton.

The new plane was unveiled today with a trip to OH and the Quad Cities, a region of four counties in northwest IL and Southeastern Iowa.

Suffering one of her worst coughing bouts of the race, she paused to sip water, her voice reduced to a crackling whisper at times. The Republican candidate questioned Clinton’s fitness for office over her use of private e-mail while secretary of state. The visits to OH by Trump and Clinton – along with their respective running mates, Governor Mike Pence of IN and Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia – highlighted the importance of a state that Republicans believe Trump must win to have any shot of reaching the White House. He followed suit, inviting a smaller group of reporters onto his plane and answering questions during the 30-minute flight.

She answered questions for more than 22 minutes on several topics, including tensions with Russian Federation over accusations of cyber-espionage.

Clinton, speaking to reporters aboard her new campaign plane, dubbed “Hill Force One”, said this “credible report” on the probe, which the Washington Post says is being coordinated by the USA director of national intelligence, shows that we need to be “on guard to protect our electoral system at all levels and we have to make it clear that we’re not gonna let anyone interfere with decisions of the American people”.

Her supporters in the crowd said her goals were ones they could get behind.

“We’re going to make that decision into the future”, Trump told reporters in his most extensive comments on immigration since last week’s policy speech. We want total border security. She said she and Kaine would outline their plans for office in a book being released this week.

Under Clinton, “people can pour across the border and it doesn’t matter who the people are”.

Last week, Trump’s campaign team celebrated a success after the NY businessman made a quick trip to Mexico, appearing side by side with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, after talks about Trump’s wall-building and anti-immigrant policies. Whether that’s more a case of people being enthusiastic about voting for The Donald or against Secretary Clinton can be left to the soothsayers for now, but the result seems to work out in Trump’s favor. He pulls support from younger, whiter voters.

The first of three presidential debates that are expected to be the most watched moments of the election is just three weeks away.

“I look forward to the debates”, Trump told reporters, saying he regards them as “an important element of what we’re doing”.

Trump softened his language on immigration when pressed by reporters. The other swing states are Florida, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Polls show Trump trailing Clinton in a series of must-win battleground states, meaning the debates could be his best chance at reorienting the race.
