Rajnath slams separatists, says their behaviour not Kashmiriyat

The statement said, “We don’t need lectures and sermons on democracy and humanity.They tried to play a game of “win only” for them as they just wanted to discredit us as whether we accept their offer of dialogue which never came or we ignore their casual personal gestures”.

Singh led the delegation of 26 MPs from 20 parties which stayed overnight in Srinagar before stopping over in Jammu this afternoon. We neither said “Yes” nor “No” (to the move).

The delegation will leave for Jammu today where they are likely to meet the representatives of Kashmiri Pandits among other civil society members.

A day after Hurriyat leaders snubbed members of the all-party delegation who reached out to them, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the behaviour of the separatists shows they do not believe in “Kashmiriyat”, “Insaniyat” and “Jamhooriyat”.

Before winding up the visit, the Home Minister also sent out a clear message to separatists, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir will always remain an integral part of India.

“As far as talks are concerned, our doors are open to everyone who wants peace and normalcy”. “How can we talk to people who are raising “Pakistan zindabad” slogans?”

An all-party delegation seeking to end turbulence in Kashmir concluded its two-day visit with no breakthrough, but Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh saw some positives even as he lashed out at the separatists for their refusal to meet the MPs.

“However, they refused to speak on the Kashmir dispute”, Yechury said.

He reiterated government’s stand that the doors are still open for talks.

On a question whether India plans to talk to Pakistan on Kashmir, Singh said, “First let us talk to Indians”.

“I know people of Kashmir also want this”.

“I am convinced that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir will improve”, he said. The Parliament is the highest panchayat of a democracy and it’s very serious about Kashmir issue.

He said the all-party delegation has taken suggestions from the people who interacted with it for improvement of situation in Kashmir.

Opposition leaders including former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and state Congress leaders also met the delegation.
