Clinton turns down Mexico invitation after Trump’s diplomatic ruckus

In a written excerpt from an interview with ABC News that will air Tuesday morning, Clinton simply said “no” when asked if she would travel to Mexico before the election on November 8, without elaborating further.

Following Donald Trump’s visit to Mexico, Hillary Clinton told ABC Newsthat she won’t be traveling to Mexico any time before the November 8 election.

“I’ve had that job”, Clinton said. It was discussed that it wouldn’t be discussed.

I wish Donald Trump would keep his immigration message and policy the same long enough for us to know what it really is (“Soft and hard words”, Thursday). And until I’m president, I’m not going to press anything very much, but they fully know my stance.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto invited both candidates last month.

Trump said the pair didn’t discuss who’d pay for his signature plan to build a border wall, but Peña Nieto later refuted Trump by saying he “made it clear” that Mexico wouldn’t be covering the bill. Pena Nieto remained silent on the issue at the event, but said later on Twitter that he made it clear Mexico would not pay for the wall.

Seventy-eight percent said they believed Trump could not deliver on this promise, while 13 percent said he could. (We’ll see) who wins in the end.

“What happened is what we call a diplomatic incident, because he came out saying one thing and the Mexican president contradicted him nearly immediately”, she said.
