Samsung Australia recalls over 50000 Galaxy Note 7 smartphones over battery issue

On Friday, the publication reported Samsung has failed to contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission about the Galaxy Note 7 and initiate an official recall through the commission.

The Korean company, quick to acknowledge the issue recalled about 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 units from the market.

On Sept. 1, Samsung Electronics Co. released a statement announcing a worldwide recall of the Note 7 after receiving reports of battery related incidents. Samsung took the issue seriously and it was later revealed that the main cause is faulty batteries in some of the handsets which caused the company to recall the handsets. However, 35 customers reported battery explosion battery or fire during charging.

Samsung is known for making many different devices available for different markets and price points.

In a statement posted on the company’s website, Samsung said it was investigating reports of problems with the phone before discovering the battery was incorrectly installed.

“We know our Galaxy Note 7 customers are our most loyal customers and we are taking a proactive approach to support them”. It also advised them to turn off their phones and use an alternative device until a remedy is provided.

“The safety and ongoing satisfaction of our customers is our top priority”, Samsung Electronics Australia vice-president of IT and Mobile, Richard Fink, said.

Customers can also ask for a ask for a full refund if they don’t want another Galaxy Note7. In July, it reported its most profitable quarter in almost two years as sales of the Galaxy S7 helped boost sales while the Note 7 has received positive reviews before it was released.
