During his three-day stay in Hangzhou, Obama met with the leaders of China, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Russian Federation – all countries with complicated but integral relationships to the US.
There had been hopes of a breakthrough in stemming the Syria conflict after the usa said it was close to a deal with Russian Federation.
“It was mainly the two of us who had the discussion, going into detail”.
“I think we managed to get to an understanding of one another and to understanding of the problems that we are facing”, Putin added.
Speaking after a 90-minute conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Obama said of the United States, “We’re moving into a new era here where a number of countries have significant capacities”.
The US president offered a diplomatic reply when asked to comment on the airport “kerfuffle” on Sunday during a joint press conference with Theresa May. “Our other partners, including Iran, will also be informed [on the progress]”, Putin added.
A senior US official said of the meeting between Obama and Putin, “It was constructive”.
Panagariya said issues of worldwide financial governance, tax evasion, trade investment and growth were some of the issues discussed at the meeting. “The US President is absolutely honest in striving for a resolution of the Syrian conflict”, also calling the US a “key partner” on security issues. The State Department has said it wants nationwide cease-fire between Assad’s military and the rebels, rather than another time-limited agreement like ones that failed before.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, meanwhile, said that the meeting “went longer than expected”. Ukraine was mentioned at the meeting, Putin said, without specifying further. So why was it only the United States that didn’t? Russian Federation is acting to support the continued rule of President Bashar Al-Assad, while the USA is supporting and arming rebels dedicated to his overthrow.
“We need increased growth, but it must be better balanced, more sustainable, and inclusive so as to benefit all people”, she said.

Moscow however always welcomes any contact with the USA, according to the Russian leader, who said that Washington is one of Russia’s key partners in a number of fields, including worldwide security.
