Loris Karius and Lucas Leiva close to injury return

The German shot stopper, who joined Liverpool from Bundesliga side Mainz this summer for £4.7 million, has had wires removed from the hand he broke following a collision with teammate Dejan Lovren on the club’s preseason tour to the United States.

With Liverpool regularly suffering injuries during worldwide breaks, it’s refreshing to get some good news for once, and after recent surgery on his hand, it appears that Reds’ stopper Loris Karius is on an accelerated road to recovery.

“People have recognised me at the traffic lights, when I’m having lunch or things like that and it’s really nice to see because they’re all just wishing you the best and a good recovery”, said Karius.

“I’ve also seen a lot of the Premier League before – it’s a high level, but I think it’s the same in Germany so I don’t think I am going to be surprised about anything”. It’s up to me now, basically.

“We’re ahead of schedule because in total it’s been about five weeks [since the injury] I think, but I don’t want to rush it too much”.

‘I think that’s very good for any player, not just for me. Hopefully then we can get on a good run, see where it goes and I hope we can do very well this season.

“I’ve been outside every day with the team and have done a lot of fitness work, foot work and making some saves with my left hand”.

“I am trying to make my way – I am not 100 per cent sure yet on how to get everywhere, but I think I will have enough time in the future to see more of the city and I am looking forward to that”.

“We haven’t wasted any time there, in fact we’ve probably even improved me on some stuff. I think I am good to go”. Whoever the manager thinks is best to do that for him, that’s how it is. My body is there, it’s ready, it’s just the one hand I need to be sure of now and that it’s not giving me any problems.

“I am well prepared and looking forward to it, so there’s nothing I am scared of or unsure of”.
