At one point, police say the suspect tried to “discard evidence” by throwing it out of the vehicle.

Two suspects have been detained and another suspect is dead following a reported bank robbery that turned into a police pursuit and officer-involved shooting Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the robbery happened at the Credit Union West near Litchfield Road and Van Buren Street.

According to police, while officers were following the suspect’s vehicle, two suspects got out of the vehicle and on foot. The other suspect was taken into custody by Phoenix police.

Aerial footage of the pursuit showed officers follow the vehicle before pinning it on the side of the road and opening fire at the suspect.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Jonathan Howard said, “the suspect meant to escape at all costs”. During that time, two suspects left the vehicle in separate stops, Howard said.

No one was injured at the bank scene, Avondale police Officer Ray Emmett said.

The chase ended on Interstate 10 and Baseline Road in Temple after beginning about noon in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reports. In 2014, police opened fire on a man wielding a machete after they forced him off the road in a pursuit (again, it’s graphic).

Intersection at Baseline and I10 shut down for Police Investigation.

The 45-minute chase began after a bank was robbed in a Phoenix suburb and a suspect shot at police, authorities said.
