Redbridge results: Ilford Grammar School pupils celebrate GCSE success

More than 82 per cent of students achieved five or more A* to C grades, including English and maths, and the school got an Attainment 8 score of 5.89 which equates to an average grade of B.

In separate sciences, 56 per cent of pupils gained A* and A, which enhances the school’s reputation for its excellence in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects.

In the percentage of students achieving 5A*/C grades GEMS did better by 11.2 per cent; and in the percentage achieving 5A*/G grades, GEMS did better by 4.7 per cent.

Many pupils commented on how their Maths results exceeded their expectations something echoed by Natasha, who collected her GCSE results today, “when you actively go above expectations: Wow!”

Pupils at the John Henry Newman Catholic School in Stevenage were celebrating their GCSE results today as nearly 30 percent of grades were at A* or A.

They achieved 100 per cent A* to C grades in art, French, graphic design, history and music, with 100 per cent A*s or As in art and 78 per cent A* to As in graphic design.

Among the many high achieving students this summer were Matthew Jayasekara, who achieved nine A* and two A grades, and Hannah Broad who achieved seven A*s and three As.

Ross will now study maths, business, geography and PE at the school’s sixth form.

“With such an emphasis on high expectations, we have seen some dramatic improvements in the school’s results. The hard work was all worthwhile and I am grateful for the support of my teachers”. I got an A but I found it the hardest subject and had to work really hard for it.

“I feel relieved my GCSEs are done and I am now looking forward to studying my A-levels”.
