Dead, 20 Injured in Tel Aviv Parking Garage Collapse
Five construction workers remained missing and believed trapped underground almost 12 hours after the collapse of a tiered parking structure under construction in Tel Aviv that killed two and injured at least 24. The collapse was initially blamed on the collapse of a crane onsite; structural failure is now being cited as the cause.

Paramedics were called to the scene on Monday morning.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said at least 30 people hurt.
Israeli TV broadcast footage showing a large, crater-like hole in the ground, and twisted support beams as rescue teams, accompanied by search dogs, dug through the rubble. At least 20 people were injured in the accident. The IDF said it was dispatching search-and-rescue forces to assist in the search efforts.
It appeared to me that the roof of a parking garage had collapsed in the building site.
Hundreds of members of a special Israeli army unit were scouring the site for the three people who were still missing, local media reported. The construction worker showed no signs of life when the rescuers finally reached him, about 24 hours after the collapse. “They say some movement shook the building”, he said.
