Dog found alive 9 days after Italy’s quake

The rescue team pulled out a dog, named “Romeo” from the rubble almost 10 days after the devastating Italy quake. The footage filmed by the firemen who saved him shows the shaggy dog being lifted out from under a pile of masonry of his owners’ house.

Romeo appeared unscathed as he was lifted out of the debris and was reunited with his owners, who did not think he survived the natural disaster.

Firefighters heard Romeo bark and freed the golden retriever from the rubble in Italy. While they were able to safely exit, Romeo who was sleeping on the first floor, was sadly trapped inside. After searching for him for hours, they were eventually evacuated from the village for their own safety.

Named Romeo, the Golden Retriever was spotted by the couple underneath and cried at it, “Romeo!”

The Italian government plans to build lightweight wooden housing for the displaced within the next six months, and then begin construction on the towns of Amatrice, Accumoli, and Arquata del Tronto.

No human survivors have been found since those who were rescued the day of the quake.

Displaced residents are now being housed in tent camps, but the aim is to move them into simple wooden structures before winter.

An Italian couple was greeted with an uplifting discovery as they ventured back to their devastated home nine days after an natural disaster demolished it.

They say they believe alterations made to century-old structures might not have complied with seismic standards, so the quakes might have caused more damage than they should have. The 6.2 quake hit Amatrice, m the worst, with 38 fatalities including two children.
