Watch Google’s response to Microsoft’s Chrome battery complaints
However since users use Chrome for more than just watching videos, Google is also boasting how surfing the web is also more energy efficient, like on Mac where Chrome users 33% less power. Google recently added a PIN unlock feature within the developer channels for the Chrome OS platform, so it’s obvious that the company is stepping up its game when it comes to the security of these devices. But at least they’re working on this. However to Google’s credit, they have made some pretty decent strides over the years at trying to improve Chrome’s battery life. Today, the search giant is claiming that the latter improvement is more significant that I had hoped, with Chrome 53 providing two hours of additional video playback time in Vimeo. Microsoft used a number of Surface Books side-by-side to compare battery life across Firefox, Edge, Chrome, and Opera, and it showed that using Chrome was really bad for your laptop battery life.

“We’ve been improving battery life across the board, tracking progress using power measurement tools”, the firm explains.

The new battery test may not mean much to the majority of people. “Whether you’re planning a vacation or getting work done, you now get more browsing time from a single battery charge”. Microsoft even generated notifications in Windows 10 encouraging Chrome users to switch to Edge. I think we all know Google won’t be doing that anytime soon.
