No official recall of defective Samsung phones yet
In a statement posted on the company’s website, Samsung said it was investigating a small number of reported incidents.

According to Consumer Reports, because Samsung did not go through the proper process, the recall program for the Galaxy Note 7 could not be considered an official one.
Some 2.5 million people worldwide purchased the Galaxy Note 7 phone between its August 19 release and Friday’s announcement.
Samsung has revealed details about the Galaxy Note 7 Exchange Programme for consumers in the United Kingdom, as part of its global recall which the company began after cases of the new Note exploding while being charged were reported.
While the recall campaign is functional worldwide, Samsung has launched its Note7 in China as the batteries have been manufactured by a different company and do not run the risk of exploding. Last week, after several reports of Note 7 overheating and catching fire, Samsung announced the global recall.
The company plans to resume the phone sales in the coming weeks and to continue related marketing activities until the flagship Galaxy S8 launch next year. Samsung is also going to give customers the option to swap their Note 7 for another Samsung phone – the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge – that have not had battery issues.
Meanwhile Apple’s iPhone 7 will be launched on September 7 in the US and the United Kingdom and the availability of the smartphone is expected to coincide with that of the new Galaxy Note 7 retail release date.
“Because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have delayed sales of the Galaxy Note7 in India”. If you purchased your phone directly from Samsung, it will send a courier out with a replacement device and collect your Note 7 at that time.
“Apart from this, we can also expect some offers with Note 7 when it comes out of the factory again to delight users”, Pathak said. Samsung says it has sold some 51,060 Notes 7 devices locally, but that figure could be slightly higher once you take direct importers into account.
Are Apple fanatics the ones most excited for the new iPhone?
“As the battle heats up between Apple and Samsung, a new study conducted by Market Strategies International reveals that 33 percent of all Samsung owners show purchase interest in the much anticipated iPhone 7”.
