Buffalo Bills sign receiver/returner Brandon Tate
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Bills have signed receiver Brandon Tate in the team’s latest bid to upgrade its special teams return position.

Tate, 28, spent the last five seasons of his career with the Bengals after playing two seasons with the Patriots. He almost broke the NCAA record for kick return yardage during his college career. Jordan Norwood, who returned just eight kicks last season, and Cody Latimer, who has not returned kicks since his rookie season, are now the team’s punt and kick returners.
The Buffalo Bills have filled their lone remaining spot on the active roster.
Buffalo signed veteran running back Reggie Bush earlier in the offseason with the hope that he would take the team’s primary return job. Tate, at the very least, provides some competition for Powell at kick returner, and some insurance at punt returner in case Bush flops in that role. Tate had seven career touchdowns with the Bengals – six as a receiver and one as a punt returner. Overall, the Bills averaged the NFL’s third-fewest yards per kick return (18.83) last season.

The Bills also added former 2014 undrafted free agent corner Marcus Roberson to the practice squad.
